Create Your First Automation
Configure a safe first automation, run it, and confirm that publishing works from end to end.
1. Check the project
Open the project you want to automate, then open Project Settings and confirm:
- WordPress is connected and reachable.
- The posting schedule contains at least one time slot.
- Strevio is connected if you want Facebook publishing or competitor research.
- Plausible is connected if you want to optimize for Google or NewsBreak traffic.
- The account has enough credits for an article.
The automation wizard repeats the important checks at the top. Its warning links open in a new tab, so you can fix a missing connection without losing what you entered.
2. Pick a starting point
Open Automations, select New automation, and choose the recipe closest to your goal.
For a first Facebook reach automation, we recommend Competitor winners → Facebook in Manual mode. It lets you verify the complete pipeline before anything publishes.
Select Start from scratch when none of the recipes fits. Recipes and a blank setup use the same settings; recipes simply prefill sensible values.
3. Complete Setup
- Give the automation a name that identifies its audience or coverage area.
- Choose Facebook reach or Site traffic as the objective.
- Keep Manual selected for the first few runs.
- Choose the WordPress author whose posting schedule the automation should use, or keep the project default.
- For Facebook reach, select one or more Facebook pages.
The objective is locked after creation. The mode, author, pages, and other settings can be edited later.
4. Choose the research source
For Facebook reach, choose a Strevio competitor list when you want topic suggestions based on posts that have already performed well.
The default research filters are a good starting point. In Advanced settings you can adjust the look-back window, ranking metric, post type, filter term, and engagement gate. With no competitor list, the automation falls back to freeform research.
For Site traffic, select Google, NewsBreak, or both. Confleko mines your best-performing pages for visitors from those channels in Plausible.
5. Configure writing
Choose the article types the automation may create:
- Listicle for ranked or grouped recommendations.
- Place feature for location-focused articles using Google Maps imagery.
- Feature for guides and narrative articles.
- News for current stories sourced through Google News. News articles can use the story's source photo as-is or an AI-stylized version of it, and optional story keywords narrow the news search within your region.
Use Automatic mix when competitor performance should determine the article shape. Use Manual mix when you need fixed proportions or a news-only automation.
Add a region when the automation covers a specific area. This helps Google Maps and Google News resolve ambiguous place names.
The shared article instructions apply to every enabled article type. Open an article type to override its length, model, search behavior, image search, or instructions.
6. Configure social images and publishing
For Facebook reach:
- Pick a social image template and optional saved style. Individual Facebook pages can override the template and style when one look does not fit every page.
- Keep one template while establishing a baseline. Add a rotation later if you want Confleko to explore multiple template-and-style combinations.
- Choose an AI or template-based Facebook caption. With AI captions, the Caption mix slider controls what share of posts experiment with new caption ideas versus following the proven playbook.
- Add an optional first comment and a delay in minutes before it posts. Use
{title}in the caption and{link}in the first comment. - Turn on UTM tracking when you measure Facebook traffic in Plausible.
- Optionally enable reposting and viral transfers to reuse proven winners across your pages.
Choose any WordPress categories that should be applied to the articles.
7. Create and test
Select Create automation on the final step. Confleko opens the new automation page.
For a Manual automation:
- Select Run now.
- Choose an approved topic, enter your own title, or leave the title empty to let research create one.
- Wait for the run to reach Review.
- Inspect the social image, caption, and first comment.
- Select Approve & publish.
Approval places the article in the next free WordPress slot and queues the Facebook post when pages are configured.
For an Autopilot automation, the first scheduled run starts ahead of the next available WordPress slot. Use Run now when you want to test immediately.
First-run checklist
After approval, confirm:
- The run shows a WordPress go-live time.
- The WordPress post is scheduled under the expected author and categories.
- Each selected Facebook page has a queued post.
- The social image, caption, first comment, and tracking link look correct.
- The automation's Runs tab shows the run as Published.
If any destination is missing, pause the automation and see Troubleshoot an automation.
